2012 was a very special year as it marked the 50th anniversary of the Eucharistic congress in Ireland. A special feature of our walk this year was the Eucharistic Congress Bell which had travelled the length and breadth of Ireland. The theme of our walk this year was the ‘call of the bell’.

This year we were delighted to welcome members of St Cronan’s Parish from Swords, Co. Dublin who join us on our friendship walk. They were led by their Parish Priest Fr. Paul Thornton.

As part of the bi-centenary celebrations of St. Cronan’s Church, Church street, we planted a mountain ash tree in the grounds of the church.

This year the walk was filmed by Mary Fanning and her crew from R.T.E. and highlights of the walk were shown on the Nationwide programme on Friday the 8th of June.
