The most famous story told about Cronan was of how he got a book for his monastery. Once when his monastery needed a bible he asked a monk named Dimma to write a copy of the Four Gospels and it had to be finished in one day. Dimma thought this was impossible but he started writing to obey Cronan, and all the time he was working the sun never set. Dimma thought that it only took him one day to write the book but it actually took him forty days. Dimma’s copy of the four gospels in beautiful handwriting with four coloured pictures was seen by people as a miracle of St. Cronan. The book, which was known as The Book of Dimma, still exists and can be seen in the library of Trinity College, Dublin.
